Vincent Gregory is the second oldest son of Laurence and Dorothy Gregory and was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 20, 1948. Vince has an older brother, Laurence, two younger brothers, Timothy and Delbert, and a sister, Patricia.

Vince Graduated from Dundee High School and then attended Madonna College. His college education was interrupted when he was drafted into the United States Marine Corps in April of 1968. Vince was assigned to Vietnam in November of the same year and returned home in November of 1969. He was honorably discharged in 1970.

In 1973, Vince joined the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, where he attained the rank of Corporal and then Detective. After ten years with the Department, Vince ran for and was elected as Vice President of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Local 502 SEIU, AFL-CIO. In 1993, he ran for President of the local and won that election, where he served as their President for the next seven years. In January 2003, Vince retired from Wayne County service.

In 1998, Vince ran successfully in a special election for Oakland County Commissioner of the 21st District. He maintained that position for the next ten years. Vince served on numerous committees during his tenure with the Commission, including General Government, Public Service, Planning and Building, Parks and Recreation, Vice Chair of the Airport Committee and the Democratic Commission Caucus, and Minority Vice Chair of the Finance and Personnel Committees.

In 2008, Vince ran for State Representative for the 35th House District and in November 2008, he received the highest number of votes of any State Representative candidate in the Michigan House of Representatives – 41,000 votes.

Vince has been a member of the Southfield/Lathrup Democratic Club for 20 years, serving as its President, Vice President and Treasurer and most recently as its Corresponding Secretary.

In 2005, Vince decided to achieve his dream of completing his college degree. He returned to Madonna University in 2005 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in May 2006. Vince is married to his wife of thirty years Yvonne. The Gregorys have six grown children (Lawrence, Troi, Vanessa, Vincent, Cortney and Kristen). They also have six grandchildren (Lawrence "Jay", Kelsey, Elijah, Caiden, Caleb and Eric).
